Cecilia Piersigilli

Cecilia Piersigilli

Cecilia Piersigilli was born in Terni where she lives and works.
You have been painting for over 40 years. She trained in the workshops of well-known Umbrian artists, where in the studio of the artist Nadia Valli she met the great painter, sculptor and ceramist Ilario Ciaurro who stimulated her to continue in the world of art.
Years have passed since then and her activity has been very intense. With her passion for creativity and attendance at art circles she perfected herself in various techniques which over the years have led her to create various works, from the creation of painted clothes in the ateliers, embossing on copper and bijou ‘ art. The desire to paint and the excitement that animated the “Terni school” in those years led her to create various cycles of works.
Also fundamental was the meeting with the great Carlo Rambaldi who, while admiring one of her works, wrote: «Cecilia Piersigilli’s visions of infinite atmospheres that the spectator contemplates from closed places arouse feelings of escape towards unattainable horizons, therefore highly fascinating…”
They were the first trompe l’oeil of her.
This was followed by still lifes, portraits, nudes and landscapes. Long pictorial cycles where she developed a personal sensitivity.
She has now embarked on new paths that are leading her towards abstraction.
Her material works made of graffiti, archaic symbols, ancestral traces, mysterious refuges of primitive memories are suggestive. She also intensives her exhibition activity in Italy and abroad.
In 2014 she received the San Valentino Arte award at Palazzo Spada in Terni, she was awarded the medal of the Senate of the Italian Republic for artistic merit and she received the lifetime achievement award in 2016 at Palazzo della Bella in Vico del Gargano.
