Vithal is an artwork belonging to Surendra Narayan Saraf’s collection.

From India a young self-taught artist, who represents the shapes and nature that surround him, using the colors and shades of his great country. Red and yellow are the predominant colors in his palette, always with references to the sacred, of which India is perhaps one of the most representative countries, for its religions and the many gods who help people daily in all their activities. Here we can see Vithal or Vithoba, also known as Vi(t)thal(a) and Panduranga, is a Hindu deity predominantly worshipped in the Indian state of Maharashtra. He is generally considered as a manifestation of the god Vishnu or his avatarKrishna. Vithoba is often depicted as a dark young boy, standing with arms akimbo on a brick, sometimes accompanied by his main consort Rakhumai.
