Face beyond Face I belongs to Deepti Gupta‘s collection.
In this work Deepti Gupta wanted to experiment the use of metal instead of canvas. Here she replaces the bright colors that she normally uses in her work, with the cuts by incisions. They pierce the metal and create a double effect. The first, is the figure that is immediately visible: the majesty of the elephant, an animal that has always been revered in India, the artist’s homeland. The second, is the shadow projected when the steel lights up. Its shadow projects outside the object itself, recreating a new, magical and impalpable sensation.
In Face beyond Face I, the artist managed to give life to the cold metal and at the same time to bring out the majestic figure of the elephant.
The artist also devoted artworks to kingfishers, horses, and more.
