A liquid painting. Pictorial work portrayed with large colour bands, horizontally worked over an exceptionally square canvas (82 x 82). The characterization is given with a liquid painting of the background, made with different ochre tones, and two very coloured bands in the center, going from a solar orange to an intense sky-blue. This last one is the real protagonist, appearing also under the grains of the ochre.
“Arbeit”, in German, means the work activity, the material action. “Varnish”, in English, coincides with a technique of painting in which the colour shows a light graphic density, through thin, almost transparent, coats. The abstraction is made through the use of a liquid colour, almost watery, spread in wide coats, using a large dimension spatula, and let dripped as to interpenetrate itself and to cover large portions of the canvas. It is on this oneiric base that, after or simultaneously, the work of building or defining details is taking place. It is made through coats of colour, through the interpositions of the artist, that follows and emphasizes the relations between the proceeding of the pictorial coats and the materiality of the supporting canvas. They are works of a great expressivity and high graphic level, normally worked on large dimension canvas (100 x 140) proceeding in vertical.
