Navaratri is an artwork belonging to Surendra Narayan Saraf’s collection.

Navaratri is a Hindu festival celebrated for nine consecutive days each year during the month of Ashvin (September-October) of the Hindu calendar. The word Navaratri means “nine nights” in Sanskrit. During this period one honors the Divine Goddess in all forms and manifestations of her. Celebrating Navaratri typically involves chanting prayers and mantras, performing pujas, performing traditional dance and music, and participating in festivals and processions. The last three nights of Navaratri are particularly important and are called Durgashtami, Mahanavami, and Vijayadashami, during which the victory of good over evil is celebrated.
