Madonna of Humility is an artwork belonging to Claudia Ciotti’s collection.

Madonna of Humility takes its inspiration from “Madonna of humility” of Gentile da Fabriano. This artwork amaze the viewers who appreciate contemporary art. Usually, they may not like works so distant in time and sacred subjects. Instead, Claudia Ciotti loves to retrace those roads. But also she the perspective simplicity of the masters of the first centuries of the second millennium. Although inspired by ancient models, the artist manages to instill absolute originality in his work. The technique very difficult: she transfers what was once painted on a table or canvas, on a terracotta slab. The colors of the original masterpiece are replaced by glazes, which do not allow corrections once cooked in hundreds of degrees.
Here, all the mastery in the artist’s execution emerges. The wise use of glazes with different chemical-physical characteristics highlights the difficulty of execution.
