Madonna and Child is an artwork belonging to Claudia Ciotti’s collection.

Madonna with Child. The work is freely inspired by a fourteenth-century altarpiece by Niccolò di Segna, a Sienese artist. The position of the figures is the same as in the original. The artist has re-edited everything, starting with the technique used, i.e. ceramic painted entirely by hand on a refractory plate. The refinement of the execution of the work itself denotes an almost obsessive search for detail, the friezes and draperies of the garments are admirably cared for. The shades of the folds are so close to reality that it is hard to believe that they were painted with enamel and then fired at hundreds of degrees. The overglazed ceramic is painted entirely by hand on a refractory plate, with ceramic oxides and with a gold and platinum finish. The work is inserted in a carved wooden frame, handcrafted with plaster and Armenian bole, and completely covered by hand with gold leaf in sequins.
