Madonna and child is an artwork belonging to Claudia Ciotti’s collection.

The work is freely inspired by a 14th century altarpiece by Niccolò di Segna, an artist from Siena in Tuscan. The position of the figures is the same as the original. Tthe Artist has customized everything. Starting from the technique she used, that is ceramic painted entirely by hand on a refractory plate. So on, for the refinement of execution of the work itself, which denotes a almost obsessive search for detail. Friezes and the drapery of the clothes are treated in an admirable way. The nuances of the folds are so close to reality that it is difficult to believe that they were painted with enamel then cooked at hundreds of degrees and passed through the oven several times. Overglaze ceramic painted entirely by hand on a refractory plate, with ceramic oxides and with finish in gold and platinum. The work is inserted in a carved wooden frame, handcrafted with plaster and Armenian bole and covered completely by hand with gold sequin leaf.
