From life. Fruits and flowers lend themselves as subjects in an environment that could be defined as Still Life, but which in reality gives more of the feeling of a life in the making. The vase, bottle, and fruit bowl are contemporary reinterpretations of those who still live dear, for example, to the Italian painter Morandi of the first half of the 20th century. Here the freshness of the elements distorts the normal vision of this painting. The red that acts as a backdrop enlivens the whole scene even more, while the flowers are enhanced by a black drape that falls behind them.
