Billie Holiday is a painting belonging to the series “Jazz People” by Roman Nogin.
This series includes compositions of various types: portraits, compositions of several figures, decorative and abstract compositions from musical Instruments. But they connected with a unique theme: jazz music.
The main concept of all these paintings is to express jazz music through color, plastic lines and shapes, styling and transformation of images.
In the portraits of musicians, I transform the face, hands, and musical instruments in a single plastic language, combining figurative and underlining what creates music that is independent rhythmic essence of the whole image.
