A Broken Pioneer. This artist has two elements that characterize him: the pictorial style and the aura of sadness that surrounds his works. The style, absolutely recognizable and original, albeit depicting places and people from his past, recalls the masters of the early 1900s but maintains its own personality, which is not easy these days. The aura of sadness is a common thread that is found in all of his works whether they represent a place or people. Evidently, Leonets in painting him also draws on his memories and the sensations that bring to mind.
